Kaltura: Changing Ownership of a Video within Kaltura

Overview

This article describes how to change ownership of a media file. Individual media owners or members of a Kaltura group can change the media ownership. For example, the original owner is leaving the organization, and someone needs to take ownership of the media. 

Considerations

Changing Ownership to an Individual or Media Group

  1. Go into My Media and find the video of your choice. Select the edit icon (pencil) to get to the editing features, or select the title of the video, and under the Actions button, select edit.

  2. From the editing button, click on the Collaboration tab.

  3. Under the Collaboration tab, select the “Change media owner” button.

  4. In the Change Media Owner pop-up, type in the name of the new owner, select the name, and click save.
     
    If the name of the person doesn't appear in the text box, try the EAU# or switch the first and last name.

Change Course Media Owner to Individual My Media Account

 

Important: The Course Media button found on the Canvas Home page will be deleted as of May 21, 2025. All videos housed within Course Media will no longer be accessible.
