Objective

This purpose of the practice directive is to establish minimum standards for the protection of minors engaged in covered activities at UW-Eau Claire. This practice directive supports UW-Eau Claire’s commitment to achieving a national reputation for academic distinction, including through distinction in health and wellbeing.

Statement

UW–Eau Claire is committed to the wellbeing of all members of the university community and recognizes that youth are a vulnerable population that require special attention. Minors come into contact with the University through many programs and activities. We recognize our fundamental responsibility for protecting the minors placed in our care and the value of identifying a multifaceted framework for youth protection, including: protection for youth who participate in youth activities, protection for university employees and volunteers, and protection for the university as an institution.
