Overview
Qualtrics is introducing the New Survey Taking Experience (NSTE) for survey creation.
Starting June 3, 2026, all newly created surveys will automatically default to NSTE. This updated experience is designed to be faster, more mobile-responsive, and more accessible (WCAG 2.2 AA compliant).
Existing surveys will not be affected. Surveys created using the legacy experience will remain unchanged, and copying or importing surveys will preserve their original format.
All new features and enhancements in Qualtrics will be developed for NSTE moving forward. This change primarily affects users creating new surveys. Users who only distribute or view surveys will see minimal impact.
Considerations for Legacy Users
-
Existing surveys created using the legacy experience will continue to function without changes.
-
Copying or importing surveys will retain the legacy experience.
-
No immediate action is required for most users at this time.
-
Users relying on custom themes may want to review available modern alternatives. Learn more about Themes in Qualtrics.
Limitations of the New Versions
While the new experience introduces many improvements, there are some current limitations:
-
Some advanced or legacy question types may not yet be supported.
Best Practices
-
Begin creating new surveys using NSTE
-
Review survey layout and accessibility before distribution
-
Test surveys on mobile devices when possible. Review the mobile preview option for each survey to check user experience.
