Overview
Clipchamp is a web-based video editing platform that lets users easily create, edit, and export videos using intuitive tools, templates, and built-in media assets. In some scenarios adding captions to a video will be an essential accessibility for viewers.
Considerations
- There are two versions (Web-App and Desktop App):
- Windows users can download the Clipchamp desktop app, and Mac users will have to access it through a web app since there is no desktop app available.
- Make sure to use your UWEC credentials to log in.
- For the best experience, use Chrome.
Steps
- Open the video project in Clipchamp
- On the right side there should be a “Transcript” button, click that

- A side panel should open. Click on “Generate Transcript”

- There will be a pop up. Find the language you want Clipchamp to transcribe in, then click on “Transcribe media” to start the process.
- When process is complete, the side panel should look like this:

- These are the auto-generated captions and may need some modifications. To edit them, simply double click on the text and click on “edit text”

- After changes are made, captions will appear in the video.
