The primary method for sharing information within an intranet site is through Sharepoint pages.
Adding a Page
To add a page, site owners/members can navigate to the Settings-Gear located in the upper right corner of the page. Left-click the Settings-Gear to show the menu options and select the "Add a page" menu option.
You should see a list of templates. The Blank template option is recommended for most pages.
Once you have selected a template, you will be taken to the page editing interface. At the top of the page will be a space to add a title, as well as a profile box with the page author. It's recommended to remove this profile; it's not essential for the page to function, and in most cases, it's not desirable to attribute a content page to a particular user.
Adding a Contact Section
Next, add a section at the bottom of the page to hold the contact information for the page. By convention, the intranet uses footers to include contact information for the department or area that the page is for. This provides users the ability to contact someone in case there is a problem with the page.
To add a section, click on the plus sign ("+") on the left side of the page. You will have several options as to what style of section to insert. Footers usually are one column.
Best practice for footers is to make them a contrasting color to signify the end of the document. To do this, change the background color by selecting the "Strong shading" option in the right-side configuration menu.
Next, add a Text Box that will be used to hold the contact information. Navigate to the "Add web part" line at the top-center part of the newly added section. Click the plus sign ("+") and select the Text web part. You may use the search box to help filter available web parts.
Once selected, the text web part will automatically be added to the section. You can begin to add your department's/area's contact information.
