Awards are open to any undergraduate student. Awards open in early spring and close in mid-semester, with specific dates listed on each award. Award winners are announced at an award ceremony at the end of the spring semester.
Blugold Love Memorial Award
The Blugold Love Memorial Award is in honor of two Blugolds, Tim Lauer and McKinley Lukes, who were a part of the UW-Eau Claire Campus Ambassador family, and strong leaders and members of our campus community. They left us too soon, however they leave behind the reminder that we should lift each other up and leave this world better than we found it. This scholarship rewards a student who demonstrates that same passion for engagement, academic pursuit, and compassion. This award will be given to a Campus Ambassador who has served as an Ambassador for at least one year. Applicants must be in good academic standing and be registered both semesters of the current academic year. Blugold Resilience Award
The Blugold Resilience Award honors a student who demonstrates exceptional perseverance, grit, and determination in the face of adversity. This award recognizes individuals who have navigated personal, academic, or life challenges and emerged stronger. Recipients exemplify a commitment to growth, having achieved more than what they thought possible. Applicants must be in good academic standing and be registered both semesters of the current academic year. Blugold Spirit Award
The Blugold Spirit Award recognizes a student who demonstrates daily support of and enthusiasm for the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. Applicants regularly support campus programs; engage with students, faculty, and staff; maintain a positive and friendly attitude; and demonstrate pride in being a Blugold. Applicants must be in good academic standing and be registered both semesters of the current academic year. Chancellor's Leadership Medallion Award
The Chancellor's Leadership Medallion is presented to a student who has made meaningful contributions through exemplary service, commitment, leadership, and an overall passion to going above and beyond to the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and/or the surrounding community. Nominees create a positive impact on the campus and community, and inspire action and leadership in others. Nominees must be in good academic standing and be registered both semesters of the current academic year. Nominees should be an exemplary and upstanding role model of the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. The Chancellor's Leadership Medallion is sponsored by U.S. Bank and will be awarded to one student for the amount of $2,000. *This award requires two letters of recommendation. Apply for this award
Emerging Leader Award
The Emerging Leader Award recognizes a student who is a first or second year student who has already demonstrated enthusiasm for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Applicants have already committed to the campus and/or community in a meaningful way and have shown strong leadership promise for the future. Applicants must be in good academic standing and be registered both semesters of the current academic year. Excellence in Community Service Award
The Excellence in Community Service Award recognizes a student who goes above and beyond to give back to their surrounding community. Applicants have surpassed the Service Learning requirement with a strong dedication to a cause or causes within the community, while sharing their passion with others. Applicants must be in good academic standing and be registered both semesters of the current academic year. Excellence in Environmental Sustainability Award
The Excellence in Environmental Sustainability Award is presented to one student who demonstrates(1) an awareness of the costs of present choices to future generations, (2) a commitment to improving campus/community sustainability in the present, and (3) a commitment to creating a sustainable future. Applicants will have, for example, made meaningful contributions to campus sustainability projects, or represented the campus in a community-wide sustainability project; they may have contributed to sustainability education on campus, or in their current research and writing, demonstrated an understanding of “sustainability” as a cross-disciplinary concept.

Excellence in Global Awareness Award
The Excellence in Global Awareness Award is presented to one student who has demonstrated a commitment to learning about multicultural perspectives and his or her role as a citizen in a connected world. Applicants seek to understand ethnic and cultural diversity and challenge themselves to move outside boundaries of comfort. Applicants must be in good academic standing and be registered both semesters of the current academic year. Excellence in Leadership Award

Non-Traditional Student Leadership Award
The Non-Traditional Student Leader Award is presented to one non-traditional student who has demonstrated great promise, outstanding achievement, or creativity in their chosen field. Applicants also contribute positively to the campus community through University involvement. Students must be in good academic standing and be registered both semesters of the current academic year. Outstanding Immersion Award
The Outstanding Immersion Award is presented to one student that has participated in a Domestic Intercultural Immersion program, a Faculty-Led International Immersion program, the National Student Exchange program, or other immersion-based program hosted through the university. Applicants have demonstrated a desire for individual growth, commitment to learning and understanding a new culture, involvement in opportunities within their new environment to help benefit themselves and others, and have helped bring their perspective back to campus to inspire other Blugolds to participate in an immersive experience. Applicants must be in good academic standing and be registered both semesters of the current academic year. Outstanding Student Employment Award
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire values students who are able to integrate classroom learning with real world application. The Outstanding Student Employment Award recognizes a student who has not only met but exceeded this notion. Applicants should have fully lived up to the mission of the university by applying their liberal education to their place of employment. They have worked diligently within their role and actively take initiative within the work environment, while balancing the expectations of being a student. Applicants must be in good academic standing, be registered both semesters of the current academic year, and have worked at their place of employment for at least one semester. Resident Assistants are not eligible for this award since they are also eligible for the Residence Hall Leadership Award. Residence Hall Leadership Award
The Residence Hall Leadership Award recognizes a current residence hall student who has made a positive contribution to the residence hall community. Applicants should have some sort of residence hall leadership experience, including but not limited to: Residence Assistants, Residence Hall Association, Society of Housing Leaders, Hall Council, etc. Applicants demonstrate leadership skills and exemplary service, and have contributed to residence hall organizations. Applicants must be in good academic standing and be registered for both semesters of the current academic year. Rising Professional Award
The Rising Professional Award recognizes a student who demonstrates exceptional passion for their future career and a strong commitment to professional growth. This award honors an individual who is actively engaging in opportunities to explore their field of study, develop relevant skills, and set themselves apart through meaningful career-related experiences such as internships, research, leadership, networking, and professional development activities. Recipients exemplify initiative and ambition by embracing opportunities that prepare them to excel as emerging professionals in their chosen field. Applicants must be in good academic standing and be registered both semesters of the current academic year. Roma Hoff Student Organization Advisor Award
The Roma Hoff Student Organization Advisor Award recognizes an organization advisor who takes an active role in empowering and involving students within the organization. Dr. Roma Hoff taught Spanish at UWEC from 1965 until her retirement in 1996. Roma was a passionate supporter of our campus' honor societies and student organizations. Her family has developed this award to honor her by recognizing others' commitments to scholarship, student development, and most importantly, UW-Eau Claire. Applicants should provide outstanding counsel and advice, assist with the development of leadership, direct the business of the organization in a positive and helpful manner, support the ideals of the organization, and serve as a role model for members. Last year’s winner is not eligible for this year’s award. The Roma Hoff Student Organization Advisor Award is sponsored by the Hoff Family and US Bank and will be awarded to one current student organization advisor for the amount of $1,200. Student Organization Award
The Student Organization Award recognizes a student organization that has demonstrated exemplary service to the campus and community through programming and outreach. Applicants contribute to the welfare of the campus and surrounding community through inclusive, creative, collaborative, and resourceful efforts, and responsible stewardship. Organizations must be in good standing and recognized by Student Senate. Last year’s winners are not eligible for this year’s awards. The Student Organization Award is sponsored by the U.S. Bank and will be awarded to one organization for the amount of $1,200.
PLEASE NOTE: Student Organization Award applicants must submit two letters of support with their application, including one letter of support from the primary organization advisor, and a second letter of support from someone who has benefited from involvement with your organization. The Unity Award recognizes a student who exemplifies the power of community through connection, compassion, and collaboration. This award honors individuals who intentionally bring people together, support their peers, and uplift others through inclusive actions. Recipients demonstrate a commitment to creating welcoming spaces where everyone feels valued, fostering a culture of belonging, and strengthening the Blugold community by leading with empathy, encouragement, and respect.
