Kaltura: Accessing Caption Editing Tool

Overview

This article demonstrates how to access the Caption Editing Tool within Kaltura/My Media. With recent upgrades to the captioning vendor, the Caption Editing Tool is found in a new location within My Media.  

Considerations

  • There are two ways to access the Caption Editing Tool in My Media. Both options are listed below under the first step. 
  • Each media entry has access to the Caption Editing Tool. 
  • Due to a new vendor, some limitations or glitches may be experienced. If you experience any issues, please submit an LTS Help Desk ticket by emailing helpdesk@uwec.edu. Be sure to include the name of the media entry and the issue experienced. 

How to Access the Caption Editing Tool 

  1. Click on the Edit icon within My Media. You can access Edit by either clicking on the pencil icon associated with a specific video.

You can also access the editing tools by selecting the name of a media entry. Select “Action” and drop down to “Edit”.

2. Under Edit, select the “Captions” tab. Then select the “Edit Captions” button.

3. Review the captions using the Captioning Editor and hit save when changes are complete.
