Overview
This guide teaches you how to save a YouTube video to MediaSpace. The MediaSpace portal and MyMedia, a third-party integration found in Canvas, are the same. Both instances are tied to your UWEC credentials.
Note: As of December 1, 2025, YouTube videos are automatically machine captioned once uploaded to MediaSpace/MyMedia. YouTube videos uploaded between January 5, 2025-November 30, 2025 will need to have captions reordered. Please see the Kaltura: Ordering Machine Captions for YouTube Videos for more information.
Considerations
- MediaSpace and My Media both act as functional video storage for multimedia files.
- YouTube videos uploaded can be professionally captioned by the Services for Students with Disabilities office.
- All files stored within MediaSpace are accessible through Canvas-My Media integration.
- Videos stored in MediaSpace can be created, uploaded, saved, and shared just like the videos stored within the MyMedia integration found in Canvas.
- To access MyMedia within MediaSpace, select your name in the top right corner and drop down to MyMedia.
