Overview
YouTube videos uploaded between January 5, 2025 and November 30, 2025 are now able to be captioned by Kaltura. This guide provides instructions on how to reorder machine captions through the MyMedia/Canvas integration.
Considerations
- Existing requests between January 5th and November 30th, 2025 will appear as ready; however, there will be no caption file associated with the request. The
- The processing time can take approximately 30 minutes.
- Once an order is submitted, you will receive an email approving the caption submission.
Instructions
Please watch the video tutorial on how to reorder YouTube video captions in MyMedia.
- Select the name of the video entry.
- Select Action, and drop down to Caption and Enrich.
- Check to ensure the existing caption request does not have a file associated with it. NOTE: If there is no pencil icon associated with the request, there is no file.
- Under Order Captions & Enrichment Services, keep all information as is.
- Service should be sent to "Machine".
- Source Media Language can be selected. English is the default.
- Feature should be set to Captions.
- Select the Submit button.
- Once the captions are complete, the status will change to Ready, and a pencil icon will appear.
