UDOIT can identify older Microsoft Office files in a Canvas course that use legacy file formats. To resolve these issues, download the flagged file, save it in the current Microsoft Office format (.docx, .xlsx, or .pptx), and upload the updated version to replace the original file in the course.
Update Files Flagged as Older Formats
- Select Course Accessibility Checker (UDOIT) from the left-side course navigation.
NOTE: If this is your first time scanning the course, the scan will begin automatically. If you have scanned this course before, select the blue Scan Now button for an updated scan.
- Select Review Course Files from the tabs at the top of the screen after the scan is completed.

- Select the Filter button on the upper-right side of the screen.

- Select the Older file format detected checkbox in the Issues category.

- Select the X at the top of the sidebar to close the filter sidebar.
- Review the list of files flagged with the Older file format detected issue. These files use a legacy format and should be updated to the current Microsoft Office file format.
- Click the Review button for the file you want to download.
- Click Download File in the pop-up window.

- Locate your downloaded file, most likely in your Downloads folder.
- Open the file.
- Select File > Save As.
- Navigate to where you wish to save the file.
- IMPORTANT: Select the current file type (.docx,.xlsx, or.pptx).
- Click Save.
- Return to your UDOIT pop-up window after your file is saved in the updated format.
- Select Replace file with and uploaded file.

- Drag the updated file into the Drag a file here space OR click Choose a file to select and upload your file.

- Click the blue Submit button after the file is uploaded.
NOTE: Your file will overwrite the file in the course, and any existing links to the original file will point to the newly updated file.
