Overview
Microsoft Clipchamp is a browser-based video editing tool designed for ease of use and accessibility. It allows users to create and edit videos directly from their web browser, making it ideal for creating quick and engaging videos. Clipchamp is integrated with Microsoft 365, providing seamless access for users within the UWEC digital ecosystem.
What it can do
- Video Editing: Trim, crop, split, and merge video clips.
- Templates: Use pre-designed templates for quick video creation.
- Audio and Text: Add music, voiceovers, and text overlays.
- Transitions and Effects: Apply transitions, filters, and visual effects.
- Webcam and Screen Recording: Record directly from webcam or screen.
- Export Options: Export videos in various resolutions and formats.
- Cloud Integration: Save projects to OneDrive and access them across devices. See the considerations section below for more information.
Considerations
- Videos created with ClipChamp are saved within Microsoft OneDrive. To prevent storage overages and issues, it is recommended to upload the final video to My Media (Canvas integration) or MediaSpace (non-Canvas My Media repository).
- It it integrated with Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 accounts.
- For optimal performance, use Chrome or Edge.
- Regularly save your project to avoid data loss.
Mac Considerations
- May require additional permissions for webcam and microphone access.
- May require system preferences permissions for webcam, microphone, and screen capture access.
- No standalone desktop application for iOS. You will need to use the browser version through the Microsoft 365 apps portal.
- Although it can be accessed using the Safari internet browser, it is recommended to use Chrome or Edge for optimal performance.
PC Considerations

- Requires a strong internet connection for cloud saving and exporting.
