Kaltura: Accessing and Sharing Multimedia in KMS GO App

Overview

Multimedia files can be accessed through the My Media button found in the KMS GO App. All uploaded videos can be also found within your My Media account integrated with Canvas. To access a user's My Media account, go to Canvas>Account>My Media. 

How to access a video after uploading to My Media

  1. Click the person icon (Android & iOS) in the top corner of the screen.

    The person icon will enter the user into their My Media account.
  2.  On My Page, click My Media to access uploaded videos.

How to Share a video after uploading to My Media

Sharing a URL from the KMS GO App to a Canvas Assignment - Texbox Submission

1. From My Page, select the media to be shared.
2. Click the three dots and select Share

3. Click Copy to copy the video's URL.
There will be multiple ways to share the video, but for our purposes, we want to copy the URL.

URLs can be shared within assignments in the Canvas Students app using textbox or URL submission types. For specific instructions on how to embed a video from My Media, please check with your instructor. 

5. If you are submitting the video's URL in a textbox, please ensure all students, including those who use a screen reader, can access the video by doing the following:
a. Enter into the assignment through the Canvas Student app, and select Submit assignment. 
b. Create a proper name for the video within the textbox and highlight the text within the textbox. To test if the URL can be read properly by a screen reader, read the name of the video out loud. If it makes sense, you have created an accessible link.

c. Select the link button located in the Rich Content ribbon found within the Canvas Assignment submission.  
d. Paste the video's URL in the popup and click OK.

6. Submit the Assignment.

6. Submit the Assignment. 

Embedding a previously uploaded media into a Canvas submission

If you have a video already uploaded to the My Media repository, then use the following directions to learn how to Embed Previously Uploaded Media in Canvas using the My Media integration found within the Canvas Rich Content Editor. For specific instructions on how to embed a video from My Media, please check with your instructor. 

Please note: When embedding a video stored in My Media, use Chrome on a desktop. If you want to embed a video using a mobile device, use the Chrome app and enter into Canvas through the browser. To access My Media from the Chrome mobile app, third party cookies will need to be disabled.
