Kaltura: Ordering Machine Captions

Overview

This guide explains how to reorder machine captions through the MyMedia/Canvas integration. This includes how to order captions for YouTube videos stored within MyMedia. 

Considerations

• The processing time can take approximately 30 minutes. 
• Once an order is submitted, you will receive an email approving the caption submission. 

Instructions

1. In MyMedia, select the name of the video entry. 
2. Select Action, and drop down to Caption and Enrich. 
3. Check to ensure the existing caption request does not have a file associated with it. NOTE: If there is no pencil icon associated with the request, there is no file. 
4. Under Order Captions & Enrichment Services, keep all information as is.
   1. Service should be sent to "Machine". 
   2. Source Media Language can be selected. English is the default. 
   3. Feature should be set to Captions. 
5. Select the Submit button. 
6. Once the captions are complete, the status will change to Ready, and a pencil icon will appear. 
7. Click the edit button (pencil icon) to open the Caption Editor. See the additional resources below to learn how to edit captions.
