Kaltura: Submitting a Video to a Canvas Assignment

Overview

There are multiple ways to submit a video stored within Kaltura/My Media to a Canvas Assignment. The instructions provided are based on the submission type created within the assignment. If you are not finding the correct buttons within the Canvas Assignment, please talk with your instructor.

Considerations

• Be sure to have your video uploaded to your My Media account.

Embed using the My Media Integration Button (Text Entry option)

1. Select the Start Assignment button in the Canvas Assignment.
   1. If the Assignment requires text entry only, find the My Media icon (looks like a firework) within the Rich Content Editor (RCE) to access your My Media video repository.  
      Tip: If you are working on a smaller screen, select the three dots to access the My Media icon.
      
   2. If the Assignment allows more than one submission type, click "Text" to open the RCE. Find the My Media icon (looks like a firework) within the Rich Content Editor (RCE) to access your My Media video repository.

2. In your My Media pop-up, find the video/file you want to embed.
3. Click the blue "Embed" button in the embed settings pop-up to embed the video player.
   1. The Embed button, found to the right of the video name, will automatically embed a video using the default player at the size of 608x342.
   2. To adjust the player and the size, click on the settings icon to the left of the Embed button.
      
      
4. Hit the "Submit Assignment" button and watch the confetti fly. 
   

Finding and Submitting a Video Using a Link

Once the video is uploaded and processed in My Media, follow the directions on how to find and share a video URL.

Once you have the link to your video, there are three ways to share it to an Assignment: 

• hyperlinked within a document
• submitted as a Website URL in Canvas (see image)
• hyperlinked within a Text Entry in Canvas

Considerations

• For accessibility purposes, if you are submitting a link within a text entry or document, be sure the hyperlink is contextualized. A contextual link is a clickable link embedded directly inside the main body text. 
• When enabled, the Website URL option will appear once you select the Start Assignment button.
• If you are submitting using the Website URL option, copy and paste the URL into the box provided.
